“The 2014 ‘La Devèze’ is composed of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan and Cinsault and offers aromas and flavors of fresh crushed raspberries, black olive, pepper, lavender and wild herbs. On the palate this is well balanced, backed by a lovely silky texture, which leads into finish where raspberries, white pepper and lavender continue to linger. This will be best if allowed another year or so of additional bottle age to flesh out and all come together.”

As you are mostly likely aware, the French take their wine extremely seriously. If a French wine is looking for something inexpensive yet wonderful, the typical choice would be a well-made Cotes du Rhone. When Cotes du Rhone is done right, it can rival much more prestigious and expensive wines. The Cotes du Rhone Le Deveze from Domaine Dionysos is done right and is in its drinking wheelhouse.

We lucked out when we picked up Domaine de Dionysos. They are a tiny little producer in the Rhone Valley. We discovered them at Prowein last year while tasting through literarily hundreds of wines. Their Cairanne was the standout. The Cotes du Rhone Le Deveze is nearly as good, but the price is lower and it does not have the village designation.

There was a time when blends were thought to be inferior wines, and few wines were marketed as blends. For example, almost all Bordeaux wine is blended and all of the 1st Growths certainly are, but they are not marked as such on the bottles. Many of the Rhone Valley’s wines, and a lot of the prestigious wines are also blends.

Well, we had 2 client favourites make it back in stock, Barahonda’s Campo Arriba and the Carro have arrived in Canada and their release is imminent. We know that there are many of you waiting on these wines. Once they are released to us, we will ship. However, we were smart enough to bring a lot of these wines in. If you want some you will be rewarded by reading to the bottom of the email and placing your order now.

It’s Family Day! Some might say having a glass or a bottle of wine might be a nice end to the day. We have lots to choose from, and i am betting, if you take some time to look around, you will find the wines that are just right for you.

I have kept this email short and sweet so that you can spend as much time with your family as possible on Family Day!

Have a great day!
