“A dense and agile red with dark fruits, walnut skin and leather character. Full and juicy. Long and rich. Shows wonderful potential. Better in 2018 but already super.”

Yes, Tuscany is awesome. Yes, Tuscany produces some of the world’s best wines. Yes, i am very excited to go and visit with our suppliers next week and taste the upcoming releases. Yes, it is extremely beautiful. See the above picture.

One of the many wonderful things about Tuscany is that though the wines do tend to benefit from age, it is not a necessity like it is with most of the wines from Piemonte. Either way, the 2011 Brunelli are drinking great right now and will continue to do so for the next 5 years or so and the Riserva another 10 years at a minimum. Scroll down for the Brunello features.

It was kind of easy to get complacent and assume that Spring had sprung and we were done with winter. Sadly, it seems as though this was not the case judging by the fact that it is minus a bunch of degrees outside. I shudder to think of how many. With that said another wonderful thing about Tuscan wines is their versatility. Whether it is cold outside, or you are enjoying BBQ out on the patio, a bottle of Sangiovese based wine from Tuscany always fits the bill.

This the 1st time we have been able to procure some of the Il Drago e le Otto Colombe. This is a wonderful Super Tuscan. A blend of 60% Sangiovese, with 20% Merlot and 20% Sagrantino. For those unaware, Sagrantino is an inky purple grape with plenty of tannin and a nice ability to age.

We all know that Brunello just works. No wonder it is some of the world’s most sought after wine. The truth is, you have to work pretty hard to find a bad bottle of Brunello. When you get Brunello from a small family run estate such as Donatella Cinelli Colombini, more often than not, the wines are outstanding. Yes, these Brunelli are delicious. Scroll down.

Wishing everyone a super duper day. Stay warm, enjoy some winter sports. Find a great bottle of wine to drink tonight.

Have a great weekend.
