2009 Bordeaux! Chateau Pierbone’s Haut Medoc. $39.95/Bottle. Serious Wine. Drinking Perfectly Now…..
|
You can taste and taste wine after wine, but it is nigh on impossible to find wines that taste like a good Bordeaux drinking in its prime. It is no accident that the best Bordeaux wines are more often than not, the world’s most acclaimed and sought after. To sum up, you are going to have a great wine drinking experience each and every time you pull a cork from a bottle of the 2009 Pierbone. At $39.95/bottle, this wine represents some serious value. Some vintage ratings for 2009 below.
Vinous
2009 – 97 Hold
Right up there with 1947, 1961, and 2005, 2009 is a year of almost exaggeratedly (for Bordeaux) flamboyant, opulent wines with elevated ripeness and low acidity. The tannins are unusually ripe, while the wines are quite voluptuous in style. The Left Bank recorded more sunlight hours than legendary vintages such as 1947 and 1982, and grapes had higher sugar concentrations than 2003 and 2005. The key was significant diurnal temperature swings that allowed grapes to handle the hot daytime temperatures. An exceptional vintage across the board.
Wine Spectator
2009 | 97 | Drink or hold | Lush, rich and beautifully polished reds. Top Médoc estates made glorious wines; Pessac also excelled |
Arriving at the same time as the Pierbone is the 2014 Clos des Lunes Lune d’Argent. This wine garnered a 93 Point score from Wine Spectator and is the 1st white wine from the prestigious Domaine de Chevalier. Spring is in the air and it behooves you to have some nice white wines kicking around.
We know that not all of you want to drink Bordeaux. After all, wine is a matter of taste and there is no right or wrong when it comes to taste. Looking for something simply amazing? We have Borgogno’s 2011 Cannubi Barolo Riserva that was just released to us. We tasted this the other day, and the wine is literally spectacular. They don’t make enough of the Riserva to send out bottles to critics for ratings, but this wine is some of the most delicious current vintage wine i have tasted from Piemonte in recent memory.
We are waiting patiently for Spring to take full hold. The change will happen one of these days and it only makes sense to ensure that you have the right wines around to take full advantage.
Have a great day everyone!
