If you like structured very well made wines with a little age, the 2010 Vina Otano Gran Reserva is for you. This is a WOW wine that will have your guests asking where you got it and where they can get some. I am not sure how they can manage to keep the price where it is, but why question it? If Vina Otano wants to pass along a great deal on wine, why argue?
Looking for a bold and beautiful wine to accompany your steaks off the BBQ in the coming months. The Vina Otano is delivers a nigh on perfect wine match with wonderful fruit balanced out by soft tannins. Not only that, this wine will more than likely improve over the coming decade or 2, so don’t be afraid to put it down.
As long as we are on the subject of big bold and beautiful, we might as well remind you that there are a few cases remaining of Domaine du Pegau’s 2013 Cuvee Reservee. These come in 6-packs and to be fair, Domaine du Pegau makes legendary wines.
How about big bold and beautiful with finesse to spare? Rainoldi’s Sfursat Ca Rizzieri is one of my favourites in every vintage with 2013 not being an exception. For those who don’t know, this is made in the same process as Amarone, but with Nebbiolo grapes. Every time i pull a cork, the flavours and aromas in this wine put a big smile on my face.
