There are only a couple of things better than great bottle of white wine. One of those, is 2 bottles of great white wine, and beyond that, a case of great white wine. Today, we are only featuring seriously delicious white wines. Spring is here, and summer comes next. It is extremely important to have great bottles of white wine around at all times.

There are many reasons that Bordeaux is the world’s most famous wine region, but the most important is, they make fantastic wines and the whites are no exception. Bordeaux Blanc, when done well, epitomizes what most of us are looking for in a great bottle of white. In fact, for the less experienced white wine drinkers among us, when you try this, you will likely remember this flavour as what white wine is supposed to taste like. If you have a taste whatsoever for white wines, it is awfully difficult not to fall in love with Domaine de Chevalier’s Clos des Lunes, 2014 Lune d’Argent.

SCROLL DOWN FOR THE ALBARINO AND RIBEIRO.

You may remember we just did a big tour of Spain. Which included Ribeiro and Rias Biaxis. Spain produces some of the best, and best value white wines to come from anywhere in the world. I can’t figure out which category these 2 wines fall in to as they are both outstanding wines with extremely fair pricing when considering the quality. Both are wines that will match up very well with food. The Albarino is better with fish while i believe the Ribeiro Blanco is perfect with chicken or pork, especially off the BBQ. This is my opinion only. I do encourage you to discover the food matches that work best for your palate.

I am including the tasting notes for these 2 wines as they are remarkably accurate.

QUINTA DE COUSELO’S O ROSAL ALBARINO

With enticing stone fruit aromas of plum and peach, together with a touch of orange blossom and laurel, Rias Baixas ‘Quinta de Couselo’ O Rosal is wonderfully expressive and a delight to drink. On the palate it is refreshing with a crisp acidity and an underlying crushed oyster shell minerality that adds complexity to the ripe stone fruit character which continues to persist on the finish.

CASAL DE ARMAN’S RIBEIRO BLANCO

Straw yellow coloured and very bright. Coming from the various plots of vines with an average age of 80 years, the Blanco is pure driving fruit with an abundance of minerality. Aromas of white flowers, fennel, small season stone fruits, litchis, peach notes, balsamic and spring water. Tasty, fresh, unctuous and structured. Exotic fruits scents, grapefruit, fresh herbs, mint and a perfectly integrated acidity and a very long finish. Tremendous energy without being heavy or burdensome.

I know, i get pretty excited about white wines. I also am aware that i am in the minority, but if i had to pick one colour of wine to drink for eternity, it would definitely be white. There are many of you that prefer red, and there is nothing wrong with that, but may i make the suggestion that it might be possible you have not given white wine its fair shot.

Many people are convinced that white wines should be less expensive than red wines, or they just simply spend less money on their white wines, but believe the quality of the white should be the same as the quality of the red wine that they are spending more money on. Let me leave you with this piece of wisdom. Making a great white wine costs just as much as making a great red wine. If you even out your spending, the quality will also even out.

Spring is here. Let’s make sure that we have the right wines around in order to make the best of it.

Have a great long weekend everyone!
