“The 2014 ‘La Cigalette’ is another excellent showing from the domaine in this vintage. It instantly opens with alluring aromas of blackberries and ripe black plum woven together with violets, spices, cracked pepper and an underlying mesquite-smokey character, which adds lovely complexity. On the palate, this is full-bodied with notable concentration and balance from start to finish. This is showing well now, but will be at its best after some short term cellaring. (Best 2017-2025)”

The Dionysos Cairanne always sells through really fast. It is likely because a well made Cotes du Rhone Village is ohhh so hard to resist. The 2014 Cairanne Cigalette is both elegant and worldly. It is hard to find a reason not to love this wine. Not only that, though this wine tastes as though it is at the top of its game, it is likely improve over the next couple of years. This is a wine we try to keep in stock, but seems to sell out regularly. There is more coming.

There are still a few cases remaining of the Dionysos Cotes du Rhone, Le Deveze worth snapping up. At under $18/bottle, this wine is hard to resist. SCROLL DOWN.

The Rhone Valley produces many of the world’s most sought after wines. Many would suggest that the terroir in the Rhone Valley is some of the best there is. The price variance in wines produced in the Rhone can be mind numbing. There are wines for $100’s and sometimes $1000’s of dollars and then there are wines available that are extremely affordable. At $22/bottle, this wine can easily drink with some of those wines in the much higher price brackets.

People often ask me what the difference is between a $20/bottle and a $50/bottle of wine. In many cases, the answer is this: A $20/bottle and a $50/bottle should be very similar in quality at the time of purchase. The difference is that the $50/bottle is made to improve as time passes and the $20/bottle is made to be enjoyed in the near term. For clarity, this is a generalization and there are certainly exceptions, but this is a good rule of thumb. With that said, this is about as good a bottle as you will ever find at this price. This bottle will also age well over the next 5 years, so do not be in a rush to drink it. We expect this wine to be released in the next week, but order now to ensure you get your case.

There was a time when blends were thought to be inferior wines, and few wines were marketed as blends. For example, almost all Bordeaux wine is blended, and all of the 1st Growths certainly are, but they are not marked as such on the bottles. Needless to say, don’t shy away from drinking blended wines as they can provide some of the best drinking experiences available.

SCROLL DOWN FOR ANOTHER BLENDED TREAT FROM BORDEAUX. THE 2010 ESPRIT DE PAVIE IS A TREAT AND NOT MUCH LEFT.

Seems as though we are back to the rain here in Southern Ontario. I am guessing at some point, the weather will get good, but we have not reached that point yet. We’ll get there. While you are thinking about BBQing, you can stock up on some of these delicious little treats we have in stock.

As always, if we can be of further assistance, please let us know as we are always glad to help.

Have a great day!
