An outstanding cuvee from a small family estate, in a fantastic vintage. Run by the Boyers in their Medieval fortified house in the Rhone valley. A delicious, classic red from southern Rhone. Made from Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault it is fresh and fruity. Persisting aromas of red berries enhanced by the lingering fragrance of blackberries and cherries in brandy. Soft tannins and ripe brambly fruit. Delicate and creamy mouthfeel. Drink now and over the next 18 months.

Yes, the long weekend is coming. If you are like me, you will be hosting a lot of friends and family over the weekend. Chances are you do not want to bust out the prized bottles from the cellar for people that don’t know the difference. On the other hand, drinking wine that everyone, (including you), will enjoy, is an absolute must. Today, is all about crowd pleasers.

Domaine St Michel’s 2015 Cotes du Rhone is a wonderful wine for the cottage, or just about anywhere else for that matter. This is a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Cinsault. As with most Cotes du Rhone, the wine is a little rustic, but the flavours are wonderful and this wine is drinking extremely well right now. 2015 was as good a vintage as there has been for some time in the Rhone. You are going to want to get as much as possible of all you see.

Most of us love white wine. Even if we don’t love it, we definitely host guests that do. A well made Sauvignon Blanc is perfect on the dock, on the patio, with a cheese plate, and in countless other situations. This Chilean Sauv Blanc has managed to integrate the old world style of Sauv Blanc from the Loire Valley and the new world style’s used created in New Zealand. This is a beautiful wine to have around at $19.95/bottle.

There are those among us for which nothing will do but a glass of Pinot Grigio which must be ordered by the case because we tend to go through soooo much of it. Fontamara’s 2015 Pinot Grigio is just right for those of us that plough through cases and cases over the Summer. This wine has surprising balance and depth for a wine that costs less than $13/bottle. Fontamara’s Pinot Grigio has long been a client favourite and is likely to continue to be so moving forward.

Want to pick up your wine on the way to the cottage? We now have Penguin Pick Up integrated in to our system. This will allow you to ship to, and pick up from any, Penguin Pick Up location. When checking out, you will now see this option. Don’t worry, there is no added cost. Shipping is still free!

Have a great week!
