GROWER CHAMPAGNE: Geoffroy’s Expression. 93 Points. $59/Bottle. 6-Packs. Delicious.
Geoffroy’s Expression does not drink like entry level Champagne, but the price says it is.

“Geoffroy’s NV Brut Premier Cru Expression is totally alive in the glass. Vibrant and delineated, the Expression bursts from glass with dried pears, flowers, almonds and Chamomile. A blend of 47% Pinot Meunier, 40% Pinot Noir and 13% Chardonnay, the Expression is all about texture and volume from the red grapes, which give tons of richness without detracting from the wine’s essential energy, tension and pure drive. A crystalline, layered finish rounds things out beautifully. This is a great showing from a wine loaded with class.”
Looking at the picture above, it is obvious that Jean Baptiste Geoffroy really likes what he does. Well, as jobs go, making Champagne is not too shabby, but Jean Baptiste really gets in to it. This shines through in the wines.
I had not enjoyed a bottle of Geoffroy’s Expression for quite some time, but the other night, we hosted an event, and for our guests, nothing would do to start the evening, but a glass or 2 of Champagne. As good as other bubbly from around the world can be, there really is no substitute for a bottle of Champagne.
Once you make the move to Grower Champagne, it is very hard to return to the mass produced Champagne of the large house’s. As every producer of great wine will tell you, “the wine is made in the vineyard and not in the winery”. It only makes sense that the Champagne producer’s growing the grapes, often having their family name on the bottle and a much smaller marketing expense than that of the large houses, would be able to produce a superior product at a significantly lower price.
If you want to step it up a notch, we brought in a few more 3-packs of the 2005 Millesime. This is up there with the best Champagne’s i have ever tasted. Yeah, if you have something to celebrate, this is the wine you want.
We have not had Prosecco in stock for a while. The Asolo Prosecco Superiore is quite nice and a cost effective way to ensure you have some nice bubbly kicking around at all times. This is a nice little wine.
I will suggest you make the most of the long weekend. Have fun. Get some much needed relaxation and please, please enjoy some some delicious wines.
All the best.
