“Brightness and invigoration from tart skins and crunchy seeds render the fresh blackberry and black raspberry delivered by the Cabirau 2011 Cotes du Roussillon proof against any negative effects of its nearly 15% alcohol. Tar, Latakia tobacco and black pepper incisively accent this smoky, rich blend of Grenache with roughly 20% Syrah and 15% Carignan, leading to an infectiously juicy and positively mouth-shaking finish. Here is a wonderful example of the vivacity and energy that can be conveyed by ripe Roussillon fruit, not mention an exceptional value. I expect it to drink well through at least 2017.”

We always get excited when we get to buy wine that has been aged to perfection in pristine conditions at the winery cellar. Wine’s like this taste so much better with the right amount of age behind them. For those of us that don’t have cellars, or patience, this is a great buying opportunity as this wine is at its peak. Heck, this is a great buy for those of us that do have cellar’s and patience as Cabirau’s 2011 Cotes de Rousillon is delicious.

Planning on doing a lot of grilling this summer? Hosting folks? Want the perfect wine to serve with grilled meats? Yup, this is it. Your guests are going to be asking where you got the wine and where can they get some.

Languedoc Rousillon until fairly recently was pretty much a forgotten region when it came to thinking about fine wines. It has recently become quite trendy as the wines deliver soooo much quality and the price tags are quite reasonable. You may have heard the term GSM which refers to blends of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre, which is in vogue. This particular wine from Cabirau is a GSC, Grenache, Syrah and Carignan which delivers to my palate delivers more structure and finesse and less of the overpowering fruit.

Many believe that the Chateau Noaillac is the best deal to come out of the Medoc. It is hard to argue this point as this wine is a fraction of the price of the wines from many of the neighbouring vineyards. Much like the 2011 Cabirau, the 2012 Noaillac was aged at the Domaine and is now coming in to its drinking wheelhouse.

Since we are on the subject of perfectly aged wines. I thought you would like to know that the 2005 Molletieri Taurasi Riserva has arrived. Though a step up in price, it is worth every penny.

Just a reminder, that should you have any questions or comments about these wines, or wine in general, we are here to help.

It is pretty cold and miserable out today considering that June is almost upon us. Take one chore off your plate and order your wine online.

Enjoy the day, (even if the weather is not ideal)….
