No matter where you are in the world, there are always a few bottles of top notch Bordeaux on the wine lists of fine dining establishments. This is likely due to the fact that no matter where in the world you are, people want to drink Bordeaux.

We love French wines. Many people are intimidated by the classification system in France as very few wines are labelled by varietal, and are instead labelled by region/appellation. This can be disconcerting for those unfamiliar with the regions and appellations, because you are never quite sure what you are going to get. There was a time when blends were thought to be inferior wines, and few wines were marketed as blends. For example, almost all Bordeaux wine is blended and all of the 1st Growths certainly are, but they are not marked as such on the bottles.
