The ultimate warm weather wine…..

This cuvée is named after Marie and Justine, the daughters of the estate’s owner. Made from specially chosen vineyard parcels which have been identified as the most appropriate for making fresh and fruity Rosé wines. This 100% Cabernet Franc Rosé has a fresh and intense nose of exotic fruit, notes of peach and citrus fruit. Absolutely mouth-watering, delicate yet savoury. Light on its feet yet with a long finish and crisp acidity. A refreshing wine for the summer, versatile with food and great on its own.
Any of us parents that have daughter’s would never consider naming anything that was not fabulous after them. The fact that the Cuvee Marie Justine is named after both the winemakers daughters tells you everything you need to know. This is some splendid vino and should not be missed.
All Rose was not created equal. It can be all over the map. With a few exceptions here and there, the French seem to be the best in the world at producing Rose, especially towards the South end of the price spectrum. The Cuvee Marie Justine is from the Loire Valley most famous for Sancerre and is made from 100% Cabernet Franc grapes. The colour is that perfect salmon pink that many of us are looking for in a Rose.

There are the traditionalists among us that suggest Rose should only come from Provence. Then, there are the extreme traditionalists among us that say that the best Rose comes only from the Bandol appellation. This is a hard point to argue against, though the wines tend to be at the higher end of the Rose price spectrum. Luckily, we have some in stock for those of you that do not mind spending the extra money, the wine is worth it. Domaine La Suffrene’s 2016 Bandol Rose is my personal favourite at the moment. Don’t miss it!
98 Point Pinot Noir Rose from the Central Coast of California at under $25/bottle!? This is likely the best bang for your buck. Much like the Sillery, this wine is reminiscent of Blanc de Noir Champagne.
Not sure which wine is right for you? Maybe a case of each. If you go through wine like we do at our house/cottage, the wine will be gone likely within weeks and certainly by the end of the Summer. Should you decide you need some help choosing, we would be glad to be of assistance.
Happy Summer everyone!
