FEATURED WINES

A very special wine from Priorat

Priorat Vinyes Velles (Old Vines) by Ferrer Bobet 2015 is “seductive.” Our feeling is that this is a wine for the hedonist. You are going to get a whole lot of compliments from whomever you serve this to and you’ll love it too. This is the type of wine that made Priorat famous.

A very special wine from Priorat (Spain)

It’s opulent, delicious and one of our absolute favourite wines to come out of this region. The terroir of Priorat

The terroir in Priorat is close to crazy. You have to be a bit maniacal, not to mention dedicated, to plant vineyards on rocky steep slopes such as what are typical in Priorat. A winemakers dream. The hills are steep with plenty of mineral in the soil, the day’s are hot, the nights are cool and there is more often than not, a breeze coming off the Mediterranean. If you add some winemaking talent and stir, you will have some special wines.

The 2015 Ferrer Bobet Old Vine Priorat is a special wine.

You can blow away your wine aficionado friends by opening it up at a dinner party, or just enjoy a great bottle or 2 with the loved ones in your life. You will be really happy you purchased this case of wine.

Great complexity and finesse

“Deep, dark though not saturated black-red. Dense, close-grained aromas of great subtlety and complexity: a sense of stone and savoury depths as well as sweet yet austere black fruits. Deep, dark, vivid and profound yet provocative flavours which, as the aromas suggested, tread the fine line between sweetness and austerity (thanks to the Carignan-dominated blend). There is great complexity and finesse here. 2018-2025”

It is drinking beautifully now, and in 10 years, this wine will likely be even better.

Pair with beef roasts, cheese, chorizo game, lamb (stew) and venison. A big juicy lamb or bison burger would also do the trick!
