Sangiovese IGT Rosso Toscana 2017 is produced on the Bocelli estate in Tuscany where they have been making classic Italian wines for almost 200 years. The Bocelli family’s more recent claim to fame is the superstar tenor Andrea Bocelli.
This wine is grown and made at the Tuscan farm the Bocelli’s have called home for centuries. The Bocelli name, of course, is better known as one of the most popular opera singers in modern history, with songs ranging from classical—Luciano Pavarotti was an early supporter—to contemporary collaborations with artists like Celine Dion, Ed Sheeran and fellow vintner Sting.
But the Bocelli family has deep roots in wine; they began selling it, along with growing wheat and raising cattle, on their farm in the town of Lajatico in 1831. Now being run by Andrea and his brother Alberto.
Today’s Rosso Toscana is made with 100% Sangiovese. The broad-seeming “Toscana” geographic indication doesn’t say nearly enough about the vivid and vivacious Sangiovese inside this bottle.

Sangiovese IGT Rosso Toscana 2017 – Characteristics
Bright fruit. Raspberry and bilberry aromas and flavors are the main themes, with supporting notes of spice, earth and tobacco leaf. Lively tannins bristle under the finish.
With grapes hand-harvested from some of the best vineyard sites in Morellino, the fruit is deliciously ripe and smoky, with notes of marasca cherry, granite, and rhubarb compote. The finish is long and suitably dry, with admirable acidity that makes the palate taut and pleasing.
