Biutiful Cava Brut Rose – from wine-making genius and small grower-producer Isaac Fernandez – is impeccably made and incredibly well-priced.

This bottle always gives us that “who-what-where-why-how” feeling.

Here’s what the excitement is about:

Who? The nephew of the legendary ex-Vega Sicilia winemaker, Mariano Garcia—Isaac Fernandez is a wine making genius!

What & Where? Hailing from Utiel-Requena, Spain, this is our all-time most requested pink Cava. It’s made with 100% Garnacha (gaar·na·chuh), the “Biutiful Cava Brut Rose”.

Why & How? Cava is produced in the method Champenoise, which essentially means that the wine goes through a 2nd fermentation which is what creates the bubbles. This process on its own takes time, effort, never mind the cost of the grapes and all the rest of it.

This Cava has no business being priced under $18 per bottle.

“It is a delicate, pale salmon color and delivers a lovely nose, with quite delicate fruit tones of wild strawberries and nectarine, coupled to lovely minerality, dried flowers and a hint of citrus zest. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied and has a lovely core, with pinpoint bubbles, good focus and grip, zesty acids and fine length and grip on the finish. This is not quite as delicate on the palate as the nose, as the Garnacha provides good, broad shoulders and plenty of personality. This is an excellent food Cava and the good mineral and acid foundation here absolutely devours the dosage. Fine juice. 2020-2030+.”
