CALIFORNIA CHARDONNAY

CHARDONNAY CENTRAL COAST BY RYDER ESTATE 2019

Out of the innumerable Chardonnays we’ve tasted, there are none in the price range that compete with this knock-out value from Ryder Estate’s 2019 Chardonnay Central Coast.

There are no Chardonnays in the price range that compete with this knock-out value from Ryder Estate wines.

When it comes to Chardonnay, we typically drink Burgundy. Sometimes the California Chardonnay are over the top when it comes to extraction and oak. Not this bottle. Ryder Central Coast Chardonnay has always been able to find the perfect balance between fruit and oak.

Having been mightily impressed by their other vintages, we weren’t the least bit surprised when this Chardonnay stunned our team again. For nearly a decade running now, it’s been my favourite $23-and-under California Chardonnay experience.

Ryder Central Coast Chardonnay has always found the perfect balance between fruit and oak. And pairs beautifully with seared scallops, steamed mussels and is delicious on its own.

BEST PAIRINGS / Breads, Cured Meat, Rich Fish, Soft Cheese, White Meat

TASTING NOTE / “Ryder Estate is one of the Scheid family labels, and it’s a consistent value leader. This is fruit forward, with just a touch of oak influence, and a touch of residual sugar that brightens the lemon and apple flavours without compromising the finish. It’s a fine all-purpose Chardonnay at a fair price.”

“Has become our go-to wine. Buttery round flavour, and can be paired with seafood, chicken, Indian or middle eastern dishes, and eminently drinkable on its own.”

“Butter! I’m not a huge white wine drinker, I’m more of a hearty red. This case stumbled into my order and I’m so glad it did! It’s got a lot of character and a richness that makes me think of a good, cultured butter. It was just about perfection on the patio and paired well with the grilled check we were having.”
