Campotino Montepulciano D’abruzzo Doc 2020 is just the sort of delicious Italian red that cheers up any Sunday lunch, Tuesday dinner or any afternoon for that matter. The wines from Abruzzo became famous in the 16th century, thanks to Princess Margaret of Austria. The Princess and her husband, Prince Farnese, began producing high-quality wines that were enjoyed at feasts all over Europe. This red shows lovely crunchy black fruit, fresh and lively palate with soft tannins on the finish. Attractive, easy and forward with great depth of flavour – the ultimate pizza / pasta / charcuterie wine.
Tenuta del Priore is a winery just inland from Pescara on the Adriatic coast. The property – owned by the Mazzocchetti family for many generations – produces classic Abruzzo Bianco, Pecorino, Passerina, Montepulciano and Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo wines.

A LITTLE HISTORY
The history of Tenuta del Priore and Col del Mondo winery is closely intertwined with emotions. The never-ending yearning to embrace the land, the love for pristine nature, the hills of Pescara that gently slope down from the rows of vines to the distant urban civilization create the dimension and passion within the grapes. A history marked by the beat of three hearts, by an intimate drive to bring a life back where it had begun.
It was 1973 when the Mazzocchetti cousins created Tenuta del Priore, named after nonno Vincenzo, their grandfather, who locals used to call “the Prior” with a sense of religious respect. The three young men believed with deep faith in the production potential of Pescara hills, in the goodness of those grapes that grew and ripened with the blessing of a lush nature.
