BAROLO DOCG BY PATRIZI 2017
Barolo DOCG by Patrizi 2017 is a rare find. This is a proper Barolo, made by a classic Piedmontese family, at a stupendous price. Under-$40 Barolo of this quality is not something that comes along very often.
Giuseppe Manfredi is no newcomer, having purchased a small farmhouse and vineyards in 1930, today, Giuseppe’s grandson Aldo Manfredi, wife Gianfranca and their daughters, Luisa and Paola, continue running the winery paying deep attention to quality, the protection of the territory and the desire to continue a story of a family that started nearly 100 years ago.
If you love Barolo but don’t get to drink it as much as you’d like, this offer is a win-win for anyone who wants the full experience for a fraction of the price of what many producers charge for their Nebbiolo bottlings.
The wine is made in an approachable style, with lighter tannins than one might expect, but sacrifices NONE of the beautiful floral perfume or crunchy red fruit that I love.
