TASTING NOTE / Erik Banti is known as the pioneer of Morellino de Scansano.  He has been producing wines in the Maremma Toscana region in the south-west of Tuscany for decades.  With a love and passion for native Italian and classic French grapes he has created his Spineto, a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.  The 2 French varieties are aged for 6 months in barriques, while the Sangiovese matures exclusively in steel.  The result is a round, smooth red with strong territorial characteristics with the charm and finesse of international blends.

A LITTLE HISTORY

Aside from being a visionary, Erik has had a number of careers. Before he discovered his true passion he was a race-car driver and also a golfer, at one time attaining Italian golf championships. Today he is recognized for being counted amongst the forefathers of the Maremma winemaking region. An appellation that was created in part through the vision and persistence of this man… Erik Banti.
