FEATURED WINES

95 POINT RED

VRANAC PRO CORDE 2016 BY PLANTAZE

Bottle and glass of Vranac Pro Corde 2016 by Plantaze on a table with a cork.

Two years ago when we introduced Vranac Pro Corde 2016 by Plantaze – a wine we deem profoundly delicious and unique – we had muted expectations given its rather remote origin. Lo and behold, case after case the “Vranac Pro Corde” flew out the door with each offer since selling out faster than the one before. We’re talking about a relatively obscure red wine from Montenegro—not a Left Bank Bordeaux—so it was impossible to predict just how insanely popular this wine would be.

It’s a delicious and expertly crafted red that we’re thrilled to have back up on WineOnline.

Case after case the “Vranac Pro Corde” flew out the door with each offer since selling out faster than the one before.

The wine is rich and intense, made from the indigenous Vranac grape. It’s produced only in good vintages such as today’s 2016 rendition and in small quantities being aged in ideal conditions.

Visiting this vineyard is an amazing experience that is almost overwhelming. When we stepped in and saw hundreds of oak barrels lining the walls and toured the incredible wine cellars located in caves (and even one that’s in an old air force base!), our breath was nearly taken away.

Among all the incredible wineries in the ‘Land of Wines’, Plantaze is the perhaps the best known. It is the largest contiguous vineyard in Montenegro (and, in fact, ALL of Europe) and it produces some of the region’s most incredible wines following a 1,000 year-old Montenegrin tradition of viticulture and wine making. The end result is something truly spectacular that will expand your wine experience to no bounds.
