Ahh, that beautiful deep spicy chocolatey taste of Brunello. Brunello really is one of the worlds greatest wine appellations. I am so glad to see that the Fanti is finally back in stock. Although the 2011 was not the most acclaimed of vintages in Montalcino, the wines i have tasted to date have been quite delicious. My favourite part of owning wines from “off vintages” is that you do not have to experience all that guilt when you pull a cork too early. Fanti’s 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is drinking extremely well right now and will do so over the next 3 to 7 years.

Love Rosso di Montalcino? Us too! This is an appellation that is typically overshadowed by it’s big brother Brunello, but can often deliver outstanding wines that drink young and have pricing that is much more approachable than Brunello tends to be. Fanti always does a good job with their Rosso. This is the perfect wine to pair with a pasta with meat sauce as the flavours tend to match up beautifully. Scroll down for the feature.

We just returned home from Spain last night. We tasted with some of the most acclaimed wineries and spent some time learning the intimacies of the appellations. Next week we are off to Italy where we will be tasting the new releases of Brunello, Rosso and a whole host of other wines from Northern Italy. We will also be taking some time to go to Austria, Germany and France. We will be searching for the gems, both when it comes to great value and the best of the best. We will continue to go above and beyond to ensure that our clients are drinking the best the world of wine has to offer.
