Bogle winemakers have sourced fruit from the best growing regions in California for the varietal. The terroirs of the cool Russian River Valley, coastal Monterey hills and the unique Clarksburg Delta all grow fruit of character and distinction. Combined, the resulting wine is and elegant, classic Pinot Noir. Heady scents of ripe summer strawberries make a lovely first impression, while hints of crushed violets and sweet dried herbs resonate on the nose. Refined and nuanced, the mouthfeel softens as layers of cherry fruit are wrapped in a comforting blanket of pipe tobacco and worn leather. The firm, yet lingering finish is perfectly balanced with touches of baking spices, fragrant fruit and earth tones.

For most, Pinot Noir is the perfect red for summer. Not too heavy, while maintaining plenty of depth and flavour. Bogle Pinot Noir was the first wine/Pinot out of California, (at least to my knowledge), to make a name for itself outside of the California and American market.

Clarksburg, where Bogle’s ranch exists, is on the same latitude as the Napa Valley. The terroir is not exactly the same, but the grapes receive the same amount of that famous California sunshine! Very warm breezy days and cool nights make this an excellent region for growing grapes, and especially Pinot Noir. My experience is that when the family name is on the bottle, you are generally going to get a quality bottle.

The Bogle family currently farms 1600 acres, with 1200 acres in Clarksburg and 400 in the Lodi appellation. Most of these grapes are found in your Bogle wine bottles.

We have a whole host of wines available from Bogle including the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon which won a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco Chronicle’s Wine Competition. Yes, the Chardonnay is featured below as well which also won Gold at the Chronicle’s Wine Competition and scored 95 at the California State Fair Wine Competition. Although the Bogle family has been farming since the
mid-1800’s, it was not until 1968 that the father and son
team of Warren and Chris Bogle planted their first 20
acres of wine grapes in Clarksburg, California. In this
small farming community nestled along the Sacramento
River, the Bogle family’s years of hard work have
developed into an impressive grape growing operation, as
well as a nationally acclaimed winery.
