Vau de Vey is on the left bank of Chablis. The steep, low yielding, east facing slope, composed of calcareous clay with Kimmeridgian subsoil provides the grapes for this vintage wine. This plot yields Chablis wines that express remarkable finesse. This rich wine shows forward, flinty fruity scents which lead on to refreshing mineral notes and a savoury finish.

What the Critics Say

“An excellent vintage, showing great potential; wines are rich and ripe, with density and concentration.”
96 point White Burgundy VINTAGE rating – Wine Spectator

“Dense, classic, age-worthy wines made from ripe, healthy fruit with bright natural acidity, offering outstanding aromatic freshness and complexity (citrus and stone fruits, flowers and fresh herbs) and piquant saline minerality. The 2014 Chablis are in the line of cooler recent years like 2012, 2010 and 2008 but often suaver and more pliant.”

Chablis 1er Cru Vau de Vey

Vau de Vay is a beautiful Chablis from a top vintage. At 6 years old this is drinking beautifully right now. A stellar addition to your table for the upcoming holidays, or to cellar over the next few years.

Chablis is the purest Chardonnay. It’s 100% Chardonnay. No other grape is allowed in the four Chablis Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC), and no one has seen the need to change that. The grapes prosper in the cool climate and clay-limestone soil, which results in possibly the purest Chardonnay on the planet.

We cannot recommend this wine highly enough!

This is superb Premier Cru Chablis in every way. Firstly, it starts off round and rich on the palate, revealing its pleasing structure and impressive length. To add to that, it’s toasty, buttery, citrus aromas with delicious and lush flavours of lemon, tart apple and a lovely mineral kick on the finish.
