They’re just one family doing their best since 1925 to showcase their little corner of a vast winemaking region. That’s very cool!

This red hails from Yecla—located between the Mediterranean and the highlands towards central Spain. Days are very warm and nights are cool. The climate is very dry ensuring the vine roots go very deep in to the ground to hunt for their water. There is an almost constant breeze. Many would suggest that these are the ideal conditions for growing grapes.

Barahonda’s “Carro” has been a staple around here and at home for over a decade. There’s nothing “cookie-cutter” about it. It shines with classic Spanish flair and a supremely layered palate that leaves its quaint $17 price tag far behind. Let’s just say, there are countless reds double the price we wished tasted like this!
