Deep colour. Young, expressive nose showing a bouquet of red and black fruits and floral undertones. Supple mouthfeel with soft stuffing, melted tannins and notable fruit. A good classic Cahors that is already very enjoyable.

At $14.95/Bottle the Tradition is a hard wine to compete with. For those of you that feel you need or want something slightly more refined,a new PO of Chateau de Gaudou’s 95 point 2013 Renaissance has arrived. For your reading pleasure, i am posting the review for the 2013 Renaissance below.

“Fresh, perfumed and intricate, the nose is packed with dark black fruits, a generous helping of nutmeg and spice and all interlaced with polished oak. The palate offers lovely depth and complexity with concentrated fruit, silky tannins and beautiful mineral freshness. A serious wine, and will keep for 3-5 years.”

95 points / Gold Medal – Decanter World Wine Awards 2016

It feels like Spring outside today. The cottage has been opened up and we have been grilling on the deck in our backyard for weeks already. This usually involves hosting friends, family, clients or even a mix of all. For these sorts of situations, you often need a crowd pleaser of a wine that is easy on the wallet. Chateau de Gaudou’s Tradition is perfect for these situations. We brought a lot this time, so don’t be afraid to order a few cases as once it is gone, it will be a while before it comes back.

Cahors was the birthplace of Malbec, though at this point Argentinean Malbec tends to be more famous. If you like Malbec, but are not familiar with Cahors, it is worth a try as there are some amazing values and great wines.

Looking for some extremely drinkable bubbly? Montbourgeau’s Cremant de Jura delivers, complexity, depth and most importantly, drinkability. This is perfect for any celebration, even if that celebration is just getting a fun evening started. This Cremant won the Coupe de Coeur from the guide Hachette as well as garnering a 92 point score from Decanter. Yeah, this is nice bubbly to have around.

Have a wonderful weekend!
