“(all stainless steel) Brilliant violet. Bright and focused on the nose, displaying an array of dark fruit and floral aromas and suggestions of licorice and cola. Sappy and concentrated yet energetic, offering vibrant black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that tighten up slowly on the back half. Closes juicy and long, with lingering florality and gentle tannins that add shape and grip.”

Well they say March is supposed to be in like a lion and out like a lamb. It seems as though April came in like a lamb, and is going out like a lion. It does not feel like April 30th should feel outside today. Gloomy days like today always remind me of how much i enjoy a big round red wine.

Ribera del Duero is one of the most sought after appellations there is in Spain. Structure, power and fruit combine to make something delicious.

Isaac Fernandez is a winemaking genius! Having a little guidance Mariano Garcia, former winemaker at Vega Sicilia can only help. For those not aware, Vega Sicilia’s Unico is likely the most sought after wine to come out of Spain and certainly from Ribera del Duero.

Isaac Fernandez began exploring the world of Spanish wines in the late 1970s at Bodegas Mauro, working alongside his uncle, Mariano Garcia – former winemaker at Vega Sicilia – to produce some of the finest wines in the region. He then transitioned into a successful career of consulting for many prestigious wineries with the goal of being able to produce wines using indigenous grapes throughout Spain. Isaac Fernandez seeks to respect the identity of each vineyard and to nurture wines that balance power, finesse and purity with the capacity to age.
