Bandol Rose by Domaine La Suffrene 2017

Unique among French appellations, Bandol is the only one that cultivates predominately Mourvèdre to produce world class red and rose wines. Bandol roses, which represent about 65% of the appellation’s production, have a brilliant reputation. It is earned from a way of blending grape varieties that is theirs alone, irreproachable in itself due to the structure and the balance of Mourvèdre, which dominates the blend.

The Suffrène is above all a family estate combining tradition and modernity.  Created by Mr. Piche, his grandson, Cédric Gravier, then took over the farm in 1996, and built the winery as it exists today.

This silky rose is a blend of hand-harvested Mourvedre, Grenache, Cinsault and Carignan and is particularly well suited to seafood and salads.
“Pale yet not evanescent pink, with firmly stated, forthright aromas in which the power of Bandol Mourvedre meets the grace and subtlety of Grenache and Cinsaut: a rose of place and character. On the palate, the wine deftly combines the drinkability we all look for in rose with a detaining gastronomic force and depth, so this is certainly a rose for the table and for summer gastronomy. 2018-2019.”
