I’m often asked to name my “favourite” wines, which, for the most part, is impossible. It’s like choosing between your kids! But I can tell you which wines I’m most likely to choose—those most likely to surprise me, to take me someplace new. Langhe Rossese Bianco Rosserto 2018 would leap off the page on a wine list, even if I didn’t already know what a delicious and strikingly original wine it is.

This wine the family’s secret white wine. Rossese Bianco is an almost extinct white grape varietal that produces some of the most exciting and unique white wines from Piedmont. It—like so many of Italy’s hyper-local indigenous cultivars—may well have disappeared altogether had it not been for a few devoted local growers in the area around Monforte.

For those that love wines that are racy and textured, here’s a new-generation Italian white that will knock your socks off!
