The Domaine de Cristia Ventoux 2014 is a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah. While the vineyards are situated in the southern Rhone Valley, the altitude and cooler temperatures of Mont Ventoux lend the terroir more northern characteristics of texture and finesse. It’s a yin and yang type of Rhone wine, with pretty aromatics, lower alcohol content, and plenty of power on the palate. Fans of Cotes du Rhone and Chateauneuf du Pape should take a look at this outstanding value!

Looking for some more Southern Rhone deliciousness? It just so happens that we have a bunch of wonderful little treats that are about to arrive including the Plan Pegau and Domaine de Dionysus’ Cotes du Rhone Village Cairanne.

A little note on the Plan Pegau. For those that did not know, this used to be a negociant wine, meaning that the grapes were purchased rather than grown on the Domaine. I am happy to inform you that all grapes used in the production of the Plan Pegau are now from the Domaine. The price has gone up slightly, but the Plan Pegau is still an unbelievable value.

Yeah, Dionysus’ Cairanne delivers plenty of punch at this very small price tag. Tasted blind, you could easily confuse this with a much more expensive Chateauneuf du Pape or Gigondas. I always find it interesting that wines in neighbouring appellations can be priced so far apart. If you pay attention, you can find some great bargains.
