“Wonderful purity of fruit with a strawberry, currant and plum character. Full and velvety body with ultra-fine tannins and a delicious fresh and fruity finish. Classic Rioja style.”
Yeah, Rioja Alta makes ridiculously good wine. Not only that, this is all we are going to see this year. I am not quite sure what happened over there at Rioja Alta, but all of a sudden all of their wine is sold out all the time. We received 90 magnums of the 2007 Rioja Reserva 904 and that is more than likely all we are going to see this year. In other words, if you get as excited about this wine as we do, act fast, as this wine is getting harder and harder to come by.
There is no denying that magnums are fun to have around. Not only do magnums age much better than wine in a regular bottle but they work so much better when hosting more than a couple of friends. If you have children or grandchildren born in 2007, this is a great wine to purchase as the wine will be coming in to its perfect drinking wheelhouse as they are getting old enough to appreciate a fine wine.
The wines from Bodegas Pujanza have arrived in Canada. Though this is a more modern style of Rioja, it is hard to ignore their greatness. At $39 and $84 respectively, both the Finca Valdepoleo and the Norte drink as though they are much more expensive than they are.
