Brut Origin by Champagne Collet NV

Champagne Brut Origin NV

Champagne Brut Origin NV by Champagne Collet is a Double Gold Medal winner and some the greatest value champagne we can find.

Collet is a perfect introduction to why you don’t need to spend Dom Perignon prices to get a enthralling glass of champagne.

Founded 100 years ago, Collet is one of Champagnes old and finest cooperatives that produces world class wines. Their wines are often over looked and undervalued because of their status as a coop, but don’t be fooled. Cooperatives have made, and continue to make some of the worlds greatest wines, and there is a ton of value in finding the great ones.

Champagne Collet Brut Origin is a rich blend of of Champagne’s three classical grapes from the Marne Valley. This is a perfect champagne to begin the night, or in our household, to end it. Elegant, precise and oozing with character, I have yet to taste a better $55 dollar bottle of champagne.

Champagne Collet Brut Origin Producer: Champagne Collet-Cogévy

Collet is Champagne’s oldest and finest cooperative, sourcing grapes from premier and grand cru sites around Aÿ and crafting highly sought-after wines. Their history harkens back to the Revolt Champenoise that began in 1911. With the revolt resulting in the establishment of Champagne as an appellation to counter fraudulent production, Champagne Collet was founded in 1921. It is located in the heart of Aÿ, a UNESCO World Heritage Site within the Valée de la Marne growing region famous for Pinot Noir and one of Champagne’s 17 Grand Crus.

This boutique house creates regionally distinctive champagnes that are centred in gastronomy. An extension of this is its longstanding partnerships with the Academie Culinaire de France, and Gault & Millau (the famous French guide of gastronomy).

Champagne Brut Origin NV: Characteristics

“…Their NV Brut is a blend of over 100 parcels from across the region, with the addition of 35% reserve wine. It has a fairly typical nose of slightly creamy lemon and apple fruits, leading into a zesty palate with energetic acidity and a lovely pink grapefruit streak which defines the green apple and subtle lemon zest notes. A lean, crisp style that is ideally suited to drinking with food. Long finish.”
