We thought it was gone, but Gaudou surprised us by coming up with a further allocation of the 2013 Renaissance. YAY.

“Fresh, perfumed and intricate, the nose is packed with dark black fruits, a generous helping of nutmeg and spice and all interlaced with polished oak. The palate offers lovely depth and complexity with concentrated fruit, silky tannins and beautiful mineral freshness. A serious wine, and will keep for 3-5 years.”

There were a whole host of people enquiring after this wine. We thought it was gone, but Chateau de Gaudou had a client that did not take their full allocation. That means more of this wine for WineOnline.ca clients. This is a very serious wine that does not cost an arm and a leg. A rare find in France. As always, stock is limited, so please order in a timely fashion should you want some of this.

Not only were we lucky enough to receive more of this wine, but it has had more time in the cellar. Once i realized the Renaissance had arrived in Canada, i pulled a bottle from the cellar to see how it was tasting. The answer is very good indeed. This is the ultimate wine to pair with a steak off the BBQ, or prime rib. Yes, i am aware that it is freezing cold out this week and that BBQing seems like a distant dream, but luckily, spring and summer will arrive at some point and you will likely have some of this wine left to enjoy. The Renaissance is only going to improve over the next 2 – 4 years.

The 2013 Renaissance Cahors is big bold and beautiful with plenty of structure.

Want something slightly less structured, but still delicious? The 2015 Tradition, also from Chateau de Gaudou, is $14.95/bottle and has only slightly less body and structure than the Renaissance. This wine came in over the holidays, sold our immediately, and was a smash hit with clients. We were only able to get more in stock, now.

Please bear in mind that though these wines have landed in Canada, they have not yet been released. We expect the releases over the coming week or 2.

It’s Monday and i can’t say i am super excited about the weather forecast for the week. True, i am going to be away for the balance of the week, but my sympathies lie with those that have to bear the brunt of it. It is always around this time of year when i just wish that winter would just go away.

Many of you are enjoying March break away with your kids. If you would like to order wines, but are concerned you will not be around to receive it, don’t worry, just leave us instructions where indicated about when you are returning and we will ensure that the wines will not be delivered until you return.

There are still some remaining cases of the Baloiro Reserva. This is a wine that fits well with the wines from today’s email. Scroll down for the feature.

Have a great week everyone, and for goodness sakes, stay warm…..
